Introducing Flying Grey Doves
Flying Grey Doves was founded in 2016 by Mr. Thamsanqa Jantjie in Dobsonville Township in Soweto, Johannesburg. The mission behind the foundation was to assist the poor communities in need, especially children who go to school without a meal. We assisted most of our community by getting food parcels, winter clothes (especially school uniforms) and any form of help they can get.
Our current community is no different to the one we started in. Most of our community members are living in poverty which can lead most of our kids into crime and substance abuse. Our mission is to keep our community away from hunger and poverty and give them hope.
Flying Grey Doves means "going all out and come back with something for the hopeless". It is designed to address the immediate needs of vulnerable people living in extreme poverty, such as the elderly, child-headed homes, HIV/AIDS sufferers and their families.
